Calm Down- Enjoy the Game

Jun. 05, 2024

Dear  Breakers  Families,

We have recently observed a troubling increase in abusive behavior occurring in the stands and on the floor across the league from U17 down to U11. This includes a rise in yelling at officials and players from the stands, which unfortunately is also being mirrored on the floor with increased disrespectful behavior towards other teams and officials. We must all remember to CALM DOWN so the game can calm down.

Yelling at other parents, players, coaches, and officials never solves the problem. Instead, it inflames the situation and makes it worse. Complaining about a call doesn't change it.  Trust the officials. We need all our families to calm down, enjoy the game, and encourage the best in our teams. If you have a concern about a player, coach, or official, please take a night  to sleep on it. If the concern persists, communicate it to the manager, who will discuss it with the coach. They will then decide if it needs to be escalated to the President and the league.

We have seen other sports where spectator behavior has led to bans. We do not want that to happen in our sport. Let's all take a breath and strive to do better in the rink. Thank you for your cooperation and support in maintaining a positive environment for our athletes and officials.
